Haze

:|

As I am posting this, the haze in Southeast Asia has cleared...Hooray!  .... for now. :fellaright: We've been experiencing haze (something like smog) for several months now :omg: as a result of traditional slash and burn clearing of land in Indonesia for planting. (Some say it is for oil palm planting but that is another story again...  ) Previously we have had similar incidents and it did clear after a short while. This time it seems like forever for it to go away. At some point, the API (Air Pollutant Index) number rose to an unhealthy level around 200+ (Seriously, it was waaay higher than that! But no one believes the numbers the government gives the public anyway!  ) ... forcing schools to be closed. Businesses also suffered as many stayed indoors to escape the smelly, foggy, burnt (and dangerous too) air...

This was what I saw from the local news during the height of the haze... It seemed like the authorities and meteorological department can't even tell exactly when will the haze be blown away.  Currently due to the monsoon season the winds and rain has cleared the skies. :phew: :sun:

Reading :facebook: comments on the reaction of the return of the blue skies, many said that they never felt so relieved... so happy and so grateful to see the sunshine and blue skies again. Never again will they take for granted these things. :wow: Really amazing. I can't agree with them more! :D

Hopefully it will remain like this in months to come...
