Haze

:|

As I am posting this, the haze in Southeast Asia has cleared...Hooray!  .... for now. :fellaright: We've been experiencing haze (something like smog) for several months now :omg: as a result of traditional slash and burn clearing of land in Indonesia for planting. (Some say it is for oil palm planting but that is another story again...  ) Previously we have had similar incidents and it did clear after a short while. This time it seems like forever for it to go away. At some point, the API (Air Pollutant Index) number rose to an unhealthy level around 200+ (Seriously, it was waaay higher than that! But no one believes the numbers the government gives the public anyway!  ) ... forcing schools to be closed. Businesses also suffered as many stayed indoors to escape the smelly, foggy, burnt (and dangerous too) air...

This was what I saw from the local news during the height of the haze... It seemed like the authorities and meteorological department can't even tell exactly when will the haze be blown away.  Currently due to the monsoon season the winds and rain has cleared the skies. :phew: :sun:

Reading :facebook: comments on the reaction of the return of the blue skies, many said that they never felt so relieved... so happy and so grateful to see the sunshine and blue skies again. Never again will they take for granted these things. :wow: Really amazing. I can't agree with them more! :D

Hopefully it will remain like this in months to come...

Uncle Ferrari

:XD:

True story. :wow: I was at the post office and heard this loud uncle asking when will his letter arrive in the UK... I didn't really bother to look at the man since I was too busy waiting for my turn... I did my transaction and exited the post office. Same time as two other ppl and then this uncle casually strolled up to the red Ferrari parked by the road side... I was like... :omg:

So, the saying is ever true... "Never judge a book by its cover..." and another saying is true... "You see a fast car and then the driver is an uncle inside... " :XD: The term uncle over here is generally used to describe an older man, usually middle-age to older, sometimes balding, sometimes grey hair... you get what I mean... ;) No offense to any older gentlemen here... just that it does take someone to reach that age in order to afford a car like that.... "generally" .... Of course there are some exceptions...

Pardon me... it's very hazy over here right now... *cough cough* ... :bleh: ;p

Hunky Handsome Sellers

:XD:

Saw these few articles some months back :reading: and I've been wanting to do this comic... so, it's finally done! :phew:It started with the Taiwanese tofu seller, and somehow it just went from one to another.

Meanwhile, in real life....

For my overseas readers, "Lelong" means sale, or cheap... and "Mari" means come. So it's like," Cheap sale, cheap sale, come, come!"

Suddenly

Another post for my fellow Malaysians... ;p I was reading :pc: some of the comments on a :facebook: post and someone wrote a list of all the "sudden" events that happened within this past month or so. Thought it was pretty accurate and as more "sudden" events may continue to occur, I suggest you to refill your bucket of popcorn... It's going to be a long ride...

My deepest sympathies to the family, relatives and friends of those who lost their loved ones on flight MH370.

Malaysian Abbreviations

B-)

If you are a Malaysian, you'll probably be very familiar with these abbreviations by now... ;p For my overseas readers, these are some of the many issues that has happened in Malaysia for the past few months even years...

1st April 2015 saw the implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax) in Malaysia. Prices for many items has increased. Many believe that the tax was implemented to pay for the money lost in 1MDB investment. (Source: Unknown)

1MDB (1 Malaysia Development Berhad) is a strategic development company, owned by the Malaysian Government to  to drive strategic initiatives for long-term economic development for the country by forging global partnerships and promoting foreign direct investment :twocents: (Source: Wikipedia)

Sarawak Report is an investigative online news portal which reported on the 1MDB and eventually uncovering the transfers of RM2.6 billion (USD 700 million) into Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak's personal bank account. Wall Street Journal has also reported on this story. You can read it on Google by searching "Wall Street Journal Malaysia" or "Sarawak Report"

As of to date, Mr Najib Razak has claimed these are false allegations and it is part of a political sabotage. The funds are a donation and the donor cannot be disclosed.

As a Malaysian, I care for this country and hope that the truth will be made known soon... :reading:

But of course, VPN stands for Virtual Private Network... ;)

Yes To The Dress

:D

My life story... :sadangel:

Every girl's dream of owning that perfect dress for their wedding... Actually it was my mum who started watching :teevee: the "Yes To The Dress" show... I have no idea why...  But somehow I got hooked as well, most of the time it's fun to watch... because it's how you can play psychology on ppl... :dizzy: The first dress will usually be a no, then second, third, but after several tries then they will wear the second or third dress back... And you'll see how the reaction from the family members from a no will become a yes...

Anyway, don't worry... my dress is just a normal one but as you already know... I didn't get to say Yes to the dress.... How sad! :crying: Oh well... :movingon: Hopefully I will be able to find it again someday... ;p
